- ➤ United Way of the Lewis and Clark Area is coordinating an emergency shelter plan to keep the unhoused safe during winter chill in Helena. Three local churches (St. Paul's United Methodist, St. John's Lutheran and Headwaters Covenant Church) will serve as shelters and welcome volunteers and donations. KXLH
- ➤ As winter weather continues, Montana Food Bank Network drivers deliver food to cities including Great Falls, Helena, and Bozeman, and the nonprofit is interviewing CDL-certified drivers now and expects to open another vacancy soon (thanks to a larger warehouse) to boost delivery cycles. KXLH

- ➤ Libraries and tribal colleges in Montana will soon lend telescopes to local communities thanks to a new $250,000 NASA award to a UM program + the initiative will boost public access to astronomy resources. Independent Record

- ➤ At St. Peter's Health, Declan John Smith was born at 12:54 a.m. on New Year's Day and his almost three-year-old brother followed one minute later — the newborn weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and measured 20 inches despite a due date on Jan. 11. KTVH
- ➤ St. Peter's Health welcomed the first baby of the year on Jan. 1 (officials reported it arrived one minute before another baby was born). Independent Record
