- ➤ Helena students from grades 3 to 5 competed in the Sodexo Future Chefs Competition over the weekend — 12 youngsters prepared world-inspired dishes in a commercial kitchen from 60 recipe submissions. The winning chicken katsu and jasmine rice dish will advance to the regional contest. KXLH

- ➤ Local Girl Scout Eleanor Kamp earned a top conservation award last week for her project researching bats (impacted by white-nose syndrome) that aims to better understand the fungal threat to local wildlife. Independent Record
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City crews worked Monday morning to clear downed branches after a wind event with gusts up to 61 mph. Officials warn winds may reach 80 mph later this week — urging residents to check trees for hazards and report any downed limbs using the MyHelena app. KXLH
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The St. Peter’s Health Foundation Gala in January raised nearly $600,000 for the hospital’s ambulance and emergency department teams, officials said Monday. Independent Record
