- ➤ Helena Area Refugee Resettlement Team is working with local nonprofits — despite reduced funding — to welcome two new refugee families with Special Immigration Visas, and it expects to resettle one more family before a potential travel ban takes effect. Community support remains strong as the team helps these families adjust to life in Helena. KTVH
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On March 26, a controlled burn on private property off Ferrett Drive got out of control near Birdseye Road, sparking a wildfire that burned about 4 acres west of Helena—crews and a DNRC helicopter responded to knock it down. KTVH
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Kenneth Greene, convicted of deliberate homicide for killing Bernadette Johnson in June 2024—he shot her while she was dropping off her boyfriend at La Quinta Inn and Suites—was sentenced in Helena on March 26 to life in prison without parole and must pay restitution to her family. KXLH
- ➤ Kenneth William Greene was sentenced Wednesday in Lewis and Clark County District Court to life in prison—without the possibility of parole—for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend as she sat in her vehicle. Independent Record
