- ➤ Sam Brown was driving along Cedar Street when he saw the Thunderbird totem pole near Cooke Street and volunteered to repaint it after feeling inspired by its look. He will soon refresh this local landmark. Independent Record
- ➤ Family Promise received a $20,000 grant from Clayton to support families facing housing insecurity in Helena. The nonprofit will use the funds for prevention services and emergency help—covering rent, missed work, and minor repairs—and is part of Clayton’s larger $1.5 million donation through its A Future Begins at Home initiative. - ➤ Several Easter Egg hunts will take place in the greater Helena area this weekend. - ➤ After six months with no action, the local Chick-fil-A has until Oct. 18 to propose building plans that pass city inspection—projects inactive this long may be considered abandoned. Independent Record
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Helena lawmakers are considering Senate Bill 565, which would create a one-time $150 million endowment fund to improve childcare across Montana. Sen. Laura Smith said the fund’s interest would help cover licensed care and worker costs & some legislators oppose the plan, arguing the money would be better spent on education and property tax relief.
