CRIME NEWS

  • The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that missing teen Lynn Marie Byrd, a 16-year-old last seen on April 26, was located safe and sound in Helena on Sunday (April 28).  MontanaRightNow

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Whitehall’s Head Start classroom will close on June 5 after local votes due to financial strains—13 child care slots will be moved to a new classroom in Helena starting mid-August. The decision comes after a $150,000 funding loss and rising costs made keeping the program unsustainable.  Independent Record

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Bear spray works for 3-5 years but may not be safe when stored in a car or garage where the temperature changes. Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks said expired canisters should be emptied in a remote area and then wrapped in a plastic bag for safe disposal — a method that helps prevent injuries— so residents can protect waste management workers.  KTVH

  • The Office of Federal Student Aid will resume collecting defaulted student loans on Monday, May 5th.
