COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Greater Helena Gives is a 24-hour day-of giving campaign that began Wednesday, April 30 at 8:00 p.m. — a record number of nonprofits are participating and donations will be accepted until today at 8:00 p.m. as the Helena Area Community Foundation aims to exceed last year’s $271,000 amid federal grant cuts. - ➤ The 101st Vigilante Parade will roll through downtown Helena on May 2 + it will showcase student-made floats that celebrate local pride. Independent Record
- ➤ Demolition is underway at Family Promise as it prepares a new shelter with 16 rooms for people without homes—Good Samaritan Ministries stepped back to focus on its thrift store and Our Place programs; the organization now holds the Commerce grant and plans to open the shelter by December. KXLH
- ➤ Helena's biggest collaborative fundraising event, Greater Helena Gives, kicked off Wednesday night when the community began donating at 8:00 p.m. — the 24-hour event will run until 8:00 p.m. today and allow donations through the weekend with 116 nonprofits participating. KTVH
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Rathskeller in the historic Montana Club at 24 6th West Avenue opens to the public roughly one year after the club's final call, with new seating, lighting and a stage introduced by owner Ajitpal Pannu. It will operate daily from 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.—featuring local music, ceramic dishware and brews that highlight Helena’s charm. KXLH
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brutus — a one-year-old German shepherd — joins the Helena Police Department K9 program with a $15,000 anonymous donation and now patrols with Officer Nathan Weems. He trained for six weeks at Southern Police K9 and is set to help with bomb detection, suspect apprehension, and other duties. KXLH

- ➤ The Helena Halos Special Olympics team showcased strong sportsmanship as athlete Kyle Norman was named Montana Athlete of the Year after 13 years of competition and teammate Tommy Benedict represented Montana in Washington, D.C. by competing in basketball, track and soccer—both athletes value their medals and the lasting friendships they have built. - ➤ On Tuesday, Helena High School hosted Class AA teams from Great Falls and won both games, beating Great Falls High School 6-1 — and CMR High School 7-2. The doubleheader win boosts the team’s record as they prepare for upcoming competitions. KXLH
