ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On April 15, 18-year-old student pilot Claire Bebich experienced engine failure 500 feet above ground and landed her Cessna safely in a field near Helena, crediting her training (and guidance from her flight instructor) for her quick decision.  KXLH

CULTURE NEWS

  • More than 100 floats took part in the Vigilante Day Parade yesterday, with Helena High and Capitol High students celebrating Montana heritage - the grand champion was the Siebrand Brothers Circus 1953 group of eight students.  KTVH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Helena College hosted pinning ceremonies for nursing and cosmetology students Friday, where families and officials celebrated their transition into professionals — a key start to graduation weekend. The college will conclude ceremonies today at the Donaldson campus at 10 a.m.  KTVH

HEALTH NEWS

  • Montana updated its wild-caught fish eating guidance after a study found PFAS and other chemicals in fish from 11 water bodies. Officials from DPHHS, DEQ and FWP (the advisory group) say the advice is meant to help locals balance fish benefits with risks.  KTVH

SPORTS NEWS

  • Helena Halos were named Special Olympics Montana’s 2026 Local Program of the Year and bring joy & lifelong friendships through sports and teamwork. The team, which includes Carroll College students, will compete in the State Summer Games in a couple of weeks.  KXLH
