COMMUNITY NEWS

  • MSU student Hunter Lowe designed new banners for downtown Helena that recreate a warm summer day & his design was chosen from over 30 entries.  Independent Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Carroll College in Helena has been named Montana’s Unified Champion School of 2025 for its inclusive leadership—meeting criteria for whole school engagement and unified sport—for the second time. The college’s Special Olympics Club, led by Maddie Visser, has grown since 2019 as it works to include all abilities on campus.  KTVH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials at the courthouse will carry out over $150,000 in security upgrades including 28 indoor cameras, eight outdoor cameras and a video intercom system. The county commission approved the work on April 29 and about $121,000 came from a Department of Homeland Security grant — work is expected to finish by September 30.  KXLH
  • Lewis and Clark County will hold a mass funeral for the unclaimed remains — 20 people — at 9 a.m. Thursday at the county cemetery, marking the first mass service since the columbarium was installed.  Independent Record
  • Helena Regional Airport reminded travelers that without a REAL ID extra screening will occur at TSA checkpoints today. Airport Director Jeff Wadekamper said the agency will also accept other TSA-approved IDs—like passports or tribal IDs—for domestic flights.  Independent Record
