COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Helena Parks, Recreation and Open Lands Department inspects 20 playgrounds monthly to check play structures and surfaces for safety and will increase inspections daily during summer. Residents are encouraged to call the parks office if they notice any issues. KXLH
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Timothy Gordon, an art appraiser from Missoula, is volunteering his expertise to analyze the Poindexter Collection of mid-century modern art at the Montana Heritage Center. He began a 2½-day inspection that will extend over two months to document each piece’s history for future preservation. KXLH
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On May 5, voters rejected levies proposed by both Helena and East Helena School Districts—Helena Public Schools' three 10-year levies for operations and technology and East Helena's levy to boost staffing did not pass according to unofficial results. KXLH
- ➤ MTD is hosting a Maintenance Academy this year for 48 workers to receive one-on-one field training. Each worker is paired with a trainer from around the state to build skills and professional connections + boost their career growth. KTVH
- ➤ Danica Taylor, a Capital High School senior in Helena, received the $4,000 Class of 1981 Memorial Endowment Scholarship for her perseverance, leadership and hidden talent; she will attend Montana State University to study equine sciences. MontanaRightNow
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Helena High softball defeated crosstown rival Capital High on Tuesday afternoon at Mihelish Fields — the Bengals won 9-8 in a close game. KTVH
- ➤ Tuesday, the Donuts won 5-4 over the Apples in the annual softball fundraiser at East Helena High School (a charity event) and boosted community spirit (supporting local causes). Independent Record

Helena's Spring Art Walk: Visit 100+ artists in-person, on display at more than 40 business hosts from 4 - 8pm.
