  • A community motorcycle ride is scheduled for May 16 in Helena to promote rider safety during National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month; riders will meet at Uhaul (1600 Cedar Street) at 12:15 for inspections and talks before finishing at Memorial Park with free pizza at 1 p.m.  KXLH
  • The Greater Helena Gives campaign raised more than $349,000 for 120 local nonprofits, organizers announced Friday. This record-breaking donation effort boosts support for local causes.  Independent Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Friday, Bryant Elementary fifth graders were celebrated at Helena College during a graduation ceremony with hands-on activities and cupcakes — an event that helped spark early interest in higher education as they prepare to enter middle school.  KTVH
  • Carroll College holds its 116th commencement today at Nelson Stadium at 1 p.m. with 281 graduates. The ceremony features a Native American Honor Song, speeches by Dr. Alan Hansen and Dr. Jennifer Glowienka, awards for top achievements, and stadium gates open at noon.  KXLH
  • Helena High School leaders are launching history interviews — a two-year project to collect campus memories from former students, teachers, and staff before the current building is torn down — as the school prepares to move into a new facility, inviting interested participants to sign up with the main office.  KTVH

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A Helena homeowner called NorthWestern Energy about an osprey found tangled in baling twine near a nesting platform, and utility and wildlife professionals safely rescued the bird using proper equipment and expertise.
