Owner Steven Ladefoged said small businesses that import beans may face day-to-day cost uncertainty + have difficulty planning for these expenses.  KXLH
  • NorthWestern Energy increased electricity rates for about 405,000 Montana customers by roughly $204 a year on May 23 using an obscure state law that did not require prior notice. The company will appear before the Public Service Commission starting on June 9 — where a lower ruling could give customers rebates with interest.  Independent Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City leaders in Helena are urging residents to water lawns only during cooler periods and avoid watering between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. because hot weather in early June will force both treatment plants to run at full capacity—putting strain on the water system. Environmental regulation manager Leea Anderson said that using the Step Test can help ensure lawns get just enough water for deeper root growth.  KXLH

HEALTH NEWS

  • Lewis and Clark Public Health expanded its Universal Home Visit Program to five counties including Lewis and Clark, Jefferson, Broadwater, Meagher, and Powell to give free support to new moms.
