ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ NorthWestern Energy said that about 14,500 customers lost power Tuesday morning in Helena when a squirrel entered a substation at about 7:05 a.m.—service was restored to half the customers by 7:30 a.m. and to all by 8 a.m. KTVH
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Helena Public School’s free summer meal program will soon restart as classes end, with meals served at 11 sites. The program will provide about 80,000 meals for kids aged one to 18—registration is now open and 240 families have already signed up. KTVH
- ➤ Carroll College is offering a $3,000 grant to 56 Rossiter Elementary students who were displaced by the 2018 Ten Mile Creek flood and will graduate high school in 2026 — if they enroll, the grant can be renewed for four years to provide up to $12,000 in total support. KTVH
- ➤ Helena Public School will soon start its free summer meal program that will serve about 80,000 meals at 11 sites to children aged one to eighteen—registration is open with 240 families already signed up and more expected by summer's end—food service director Robert Worthy said the program costs nearly $300,000 in food and labor. The meals, which include an entree, fruit, vegetables, and milk, will be served at schools, parks, and parking lots to help families during summer break. KXLH
