  • Representatives from Helena’s chapter of Intermountain Therapy Animals are seeking volunteers with well-behaved dogs to help brighten local schools and assisted living facilities. Principal Tia Wilkins at Bryant Elementary said therapy dogs bring joy to students—transforming challenging moments into happier ones.  KXLH

  • An Anaconda woman submitted falsified emails and forged documents claiming the Royals hired her new husband as a batting coach for $1.8 million—but a Montana judge revoked her move after credible evidence emerged and a police report was filed alleging fraud and forgery.  Independent Record

ECONOMY NEWS

  • NorthWestern Energy is raising rates again—thousands of customers who must buy power from the company will pay about $313 more per year than they did in May after a nearly 17% increase.  Independent Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at Jim Darcy Elementary School learned about agriculture during Agriculture Day—a tradition that has lasted over 20 years—by rotating through 21 stations that offered hands-on experiences with animals and farming tasks. The event also gave kids a look at real jobs, sparking interest in careers in agriculture.  KTVH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Helena City Commissioner Andy Shirtliff announced his run for mayor today — he said he will improve city services, strengthen communication, support housing solutions, and encourage entrepreneurship. Candidate filing for the municipal election will close on June 11.  KTVH
  • Documents have been submitted for a nearly 9,000 square foot, 3-story office building at 11th Ave. and N. Roberts St. — the project, valued at nearly $2 million, follows the demolition of the former Guaranteed Muffler shop in March and awaits a building permit.  KTVH
  • Helena approved $620K to redo the 72-year-old Kay McKenna Park tennis courts, which are worn beyond repair—Montana Materials and Construction is set to finish the overhaul by December.  Independent Record
