The Helena Public Schools Board of Trustees voted 8-0 Tuesday night to add varsity and junior varsity baseball at Helena and Capital High Schools, with teams set to begin spring 2027 (after a community fundraiser raised $110,000 for start-up costs); continuing expenses will be nearly $50,000 each season.
Helena staff have begun three open lands projects to improve trail connections, recreation and forest health.
The work will reroute the Oakes Street Park Trail, add a connector between the Northwest Passage and Ambrose Trails, and include forestry work on Mount Ascension — all with warning signs posted for safety.
Great Falls Clinic announced its new Capital City Specialty Center (2231 N.
Montana Ave.) in Helena, which will offer orthopedic care led by Dr. Peter D. Hanson and expand pulmonology outreach services soon. Patients can schedule appointments starting in July as community feedback guides additional specialty care.
