- ➤ The Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest closed the Jericho Mountain fire area in the Boulder Mountains southwest of Helena for visitor and firefighter safety while the sheriff’s office warned residents on Rimini Road to prepare for a possible evacuation—due to limited access and rising fire activity. Firefighters are using air tankers and helicopters to work on containing the blaze that has burned up to 188 acres amid hot, dry weather. MontanaRightNow
- ➤ Helena's open lands team led by assistant manager Tyler Wock uses a Geographic Information System to inspect trails and note hazards such as eroded soil, exposed rocks, and damaged trees after the snow melts. In June and July the five-person team begins 'dig season'—a focused period for repairs—and residents can report trail issues on the My Helena App. KTVH
- ➤ The Jericho Mountain Fire in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest has burned 351 acres, led to closures in the Boulder Mountains, and prompted evacuation warnings for residents on Rimini Road.
