Helena Independent Record journalists won 17 awards in the annual Montana Newspaper Association contest, with judges calling the work brave journalism + unmistakably Montana.

More than 30 Montana teachers will gather in Helena tomorrow to urge state education leaders to boost pay amid concerns over violence and staff cuts.
