EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Carroll College announced that Dr. William Rudd will not serve as president — he is stepping away to focus on personal matters less than one week before he was due to start — and Interim Co-Presidents Dr. Jennifer Glowienka and Bishop Austin Vetter will lead the college for the 2025 to 2026 academic year until a new president is chosen. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters are working today to build containment lines for the Jericho Mountain Fire, which remains about 369 acres with no containment while evacuation warnings, flight restrictions and forest closures stay in place along Rimini Road and nearby feeder roads. Crews are working on both sides of the Continental Divide and plan to continue efforts as warmer weather may increase fire activity — residents should keep away from the area. MontanaRightNow

- ➤ City officials are seeking public comment on Helena Forward—a multi-year land use planning process that stems from Senate Bill 382 and the Montana Land Use Planning Act. Public input will help shape future land use policies in the city. Independent Record

- ➤ Helena Small Fry is launching a middle school girls flag football program for Helena-area girls in grades 5—8. Coach Juliet Hahn said the program builds leadership and teamwork—registration is open until July 31. KXLH
