ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Jericho Mountain Fire near Helena started on June 15 from lightning and burned about 493 acres with zero containment as of June 26; firefighters strengthened containment lines on the north, west, and south edges and prepared to protect homes while forecast thunderstorms with gusts up to 50 mph challenged efforts—evacuation warnings and forest closures remain in effect. - ➤ Helena officials announced the city will begin work on the Kay McKenna tennis courts near the Civic Center in July as crews clean the landscaping.
