GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montana PSC approved preliminary fines of $86,700 against North Star Development for failing to provide reliable water service in the North Star subdivision and said the company did not take enough steps to meet state law over the years. North Star has until Aug. 22 to request negotiations that may require installing backup pumps or finding other water sources—actions aimed at boosting reliability even though any fines would go to the state general fund rather than directly helping residents.  KTVH
  • Montana utility regulators set a potential $86,700 fine against North Star Development for not ensuring enough water in the North Star subdivision and offered the company a chance to negotiate non-monetary alternatives. The developer must request these negotiations by Aug. 22 while residents face ongoing watering restrictions that challenge their yard use—raising long-term concerns.  KXLH
  • Helena Regional Airport has unveiled its master plan to add two gates, more concourse space, and additional baggage claims to support future growth—airport director Jeff Wadekamper said the plan sets up the next twenty years of development and is designed to meet increasing passenger numbers while preparing for expanded air service.  KXLH
