- ➤ Camp Runnamucka is a free summer camp for 140 military children sponsored by the Montana National Guard and run by the Montana Guard Kids Organization, where kids learn skills to cope with a parent's deployment — and build friendships. The camp helps military kids feel supported as they share their experiences with peers. KTVH
- ➤ Local casinos in Helena have pledged to donate all bar sales to help the victims and families of the Owl Bar shooting in Anaconda, with funds set to cover funeral expenses and community needs (donations are accepted until 2 a.m. in Helena and 5 a.m. in East Helena). KXLH

- ➤ Republic Services took over Tri-County Disposal’s waste hauling permit on Aug. 1—ending over 30 years of family-run service in Helena while the state reviews a separate transfer of Valleyview Landfill. Independent Record

- ➤ BLM is asking the public for feedback on a proposal to mine sapphires near Hauser Lake—if approved, the project will run for five years across a 5-acre area along the lake shore. Independent Record
- ➤ Yesterday, the Helena Chamber of Commerce + League of Women Voters hosted Speed Date Your Candidates, where mayoral and city commission candidates answered voter questions in timed sessions at different tables. Voters learned about key issues like housing and transportation while the top primary finishers will move on and ballots must be returned by Sept. 9. KTVH

- ➤ Lewis and Clark Public Health officials urge residents to watch for bats in their homes after two bats have tested positive for rabies this summer—experts say to call them if bats are found indoors or behave unusually. This reminder comes as bats naturally become more active during warmer months. KTVH
