- ➤ Helena casinos raised over $11,000 from bar sales and donations to help cover funeral costs and expenses for victims of the August 1 Owl Bar shooting in Anaconda. The funds were gathered by Loose Caboose—4 J's—Drae's casinos and sent to the Owl Bar Victim Memorial Fund at First Montana Bank. KTVH
- ➤ Lewis and Clark Humane Society is seeking local families to foster animals until they find permanent homes — the society offers both short-term and long-term options while covering all necessary supplies and medical care. Interested applicants can fill out an online application and may start fostering as soon as they are approved. KTVH

- ➤ Helena voters will consider a $283M bond proposal to rebuild Helena High and replace Kessler Elementary to address safety and maintenance issues in the aging school district. Ballots will be mailed Aug 22 and voters will decide on Sept 9—if approved, the measure will modestly raise taxes for homeowners. Independent Record

- ➤ Officials say wildfire protection begins now as homeowners clear debris around houses and follow burn restrictions to keep embers from igniting extra flames—campfire safety is also stressed to help prevent fires. KXLH

- ➤ Helena City Commissioners will discuss their positions on flying the pride flag over city buildings—Commissioner Melinda Reed pushed for the formal discussion even though no official action will be taken. Independent Record
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Carroll College’s women’s soccer team returned Tuesday at Nelson Stadium in a scrimmage against the University of Calgary as they prepared for the 2025 season—coach David Thorvilson said the team will build on last year’s double-digit win season to compete for a conference tournament spot. The regular season will begin on Aug. 30 at Ottawa University Arizona. KTVH
