COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mackenzie River Pizza Co., law enforcement agencies and Special Olympics athletes teamed up Tuesday for Tip-A-Cop to raise funds for Special Olympics Montana. Officers donated their tips and every Guardian pizza sale contributed two dollars—60% of the funds stayed in the local area as Montana prepares to send 46 athletes to compete at the 2026 games in Minneapolis.  KTVH
  • On Tuesday, Mackenzie River Pizza Co.—in partnership with the Helena Police Department—hosted the Tip-A-Cop event in Helena to raise funds for the Special Olympics Montana torch run.  Independent Record

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A wildfire was reported about three miles northwest of Flesher Pass in Lewis and Clark County—Sandbar 2 Fire burned an estimated 75 acres by Tuesday afternoon and crews using aerial and ground resources are working to control it.  KTVH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Helena Public Schools has proposed a $43,000,000 bond to replace Kessler Elementary near Spring Meadow Lake to fix safety and accessibility issues in the current building. Voters will decide on the measure soon and if approved, the district will build a new facility by fall — a change that may raise property taxes by about $40 annually for owners of $300,000 homes and move some Hawthorne Elementary students into the new school.  KTVH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Helena mayoral candidate Sonda Gaub said she wants city government to be more open after a local resident asked for a crosswalk at Broadway and Beattie Street—she claims the process is too slow and hard to navigate. Gaub, a member of the Helena Citizens’ Council, wants clear plans and fast responses for important services like police and fire—so residents get answers quickly.  KTVH
