Helena Exchange Club will donate nearly $13,000 from its Tips Matter initiative to nine longtime nonprofit partners after volunteers raised tips at community events.

The public event to hand out the funds is scheduled for next week + the support will go toward local nonprofits and youth organizations.

New Helena teachers rode the Last Chance Tour Train last Friday to meet community partners (including district administrators and mentors) ahead of the new school year.

Helena Public Schools and city officials said they are working together to resolve a social media conflict over $283 million for new school construction — the partners will use problem-solving methods to improve communication.

Helena Animal Control said more wildlife calls are coming as seasonal change drives deer, foxes, raccoons, and skunks into neighborhoods.

The officer advised residents to secure garbage and pet food to reduce unwanted encounters.
