Helena residents have seen their power bills jump as increased energy use and a 6% rate rise drove higher costs from July to August — hundreds have reached out to the Montana PSC, which is reviewing bills and advising customers to submit their documentation.

A Bible-based released-time education program will launch at a Helena elementary school this fall, offering parents the option to let their children leave campus for religious instruction.

Volunteers hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday for the refurbished Unionville School following a County Commission vote that turned the school over to the community.

The event marked a milestone for the historic site.

Volunteers with the Last Chance Back Country Horsemen have been clearing Montana trails since 1981.

Partnering with the Forest Service, the nonprofit clears up to 50 miles of trail a year (including 10 miles on a recent outing) to keep public lands accessible.
