COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Today the Lewis and Clark Humane Society is hosting an event from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for eight rescued huskies that were saved less than a year ago from animal cruelty—staff announced that new portalled kennels funded by a $46,000 grant will begin construction on September 15th and take six weeks. - ➤ Visitors can see the eight huskies rescued from animal cruelty less than a year ago at the Lewis and Clark Humane Society today from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.—the shelter will also start upgrades to its kennels on September 15th with a $46,000 ASPCA grant that is expected to take six weeks. KXLH

- ➤ Bob's Valley Market, a Helena family grocery store and gas station (located in North Helena), announced on social media that it will double its size (boosting its capacity and services for local shoppers). Independent Record
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Helena Septemberfest will take place next weekend from September 12th to 14th — featuring a soapbox derby, dinosaur-themed balloon sculptures by Neil Gauter, a fun run, live music and carnival games for the whole family. KTVH
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Earlier this summer, the City of Helena approved $60,000 from its general fund to test an electric truck as part of an electric vehicle pilot program—designed to evaluate if the truck meets city needs and withstands harsh winter conditions. The pilot will also check charging capacities and add a Ford Lightning electric truck by the end of September—helping the city benefit from EV tax credits. KXLH
- ➤ Helena officials said the new taxable property values are the lowest since 2014. The city is requesting public records to learn why the latest assessment is so low. Independent Record
- ➤ City officials are weighing whether to install a new roundabout—costing about $3 million—or upgrade the current stop sign-controlled intersection at Mini-Malfunction Junction to improve pedestrian safety. Staff will compile a cost comparison and review public input to decide on a plan in the next couple of months. KTVH
- ➤ A Montana District Court Judge blocked Governor Gianforte from suspending PSC President Brad Molnar by granting a temporary restraining order that requires following the proper commission process—avoiding a bypass of the four-vote rule. The order follows a 3–2 commission vote that maintained a letter urging Molnar’s temporary leave amid an ongoing investigation into workplace conduct. KTVH
