- ➤ On Friday—Helena’s Lewis and Clark County Veterans Memorial at Memorial Park hosted the 46th National Prisoner of War and Missing In Action Recognition Day to honor POWs and MIAs, and the ceremony recognized their brave service and sacrifice for our country. Independent Record
- ➤ On Thursday, residents toured the Horse Gulch Burn Scar to see firsthand how the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest is managing the land with tree harvesting and prescribed burns—methods that helped control a 15,000-acre fire last summer. The tour offered community members insight into ongoing efforts to reduce wildfire risks. KTVH

- ➤ Chick-fil-A is planning a new restaurant at 2770 North Washington Street as it resubmitted building plans and secured a permit extension that expires on October 18. City records show this is the fourth review of the plans while the contractor is preparing the site, but construction has not yet begun — officials say further work will follow. KXLH

- ➤ Helena residents can get a federal tax credit for an efficient wood or pellet-burning stove that gives up to $2,000 back if they keep valid receipts and a certificate showing the stove meets a 75% efficiency standard—applications must be submitted by December 31.
