Good morning, Helena.
The 26th annual Last Chance Community Powwow will begin Friday, September 26 with the Grand Entry at 6:00 p.m. at the main exhibit hall at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds—featuring dancing, singing, drums, and over 30 vendors to honor Indian culture and celebrate children.
Helena’s longest-running family-owned quilt shop Sewing Palace is celebrating 30 years with special sales, giveaways, and demos from today until September 30—marking its growth from a small quilt shop started by Sue to a community hub now led by her daughter Jenny.
The shop offers classes and a wide range of sewing products, and owner Jenny plans to pass the legacy on to manager Kenzie Paddock.
METG has formed a partnership with Pennsylvania-based R-E-D Industrial Products and international company CRH to secure buyers for the 16-million-ton slag pile in East Helena, and the companies have one year to find a purchaser since no US firm can process the zinc-rich material—adding to the broader redevelopment efforts at the former ASARCO site.
