COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Lewis and Clark Humane Society will host the first Paws for a Cause fundraiser on Wednesday, October 1 at the Helena Civic Center—doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and the program will begin at noon. The free event asks for financial contributions and nearly all of the 200 reservations have been filled with 180 already reserved. KTVH
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ The Helena Slim Chickens closed permanently on Sept 24, 2025—workers removed signage and cleared parts of the building, and no official reason was given for the closure. The franchise, operated by Preferred Restaurant Group, opened in December 2020 and was the only Montana location. KTVH
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Preserve Montana’s Uncovering Helena’s Hidden History tour enters its fifth year with new historic sites like the Myrna Loy, Grandstreet Theater, miner’s house, and Baxendale schoolhouse added for guided exploration via the Explore Montana app. The tour will run Saturday, September 27 from noon to 5 p.m. and all proceeds support local historic preservation—protecting Montana’s heritage. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ With the school year underway, many seniors are starting the college application process using the free Apply Montana portal—an online system for 16 public colleges that lets them submit one application for all schools. Local professionals are visiting high schools during Montana College Application Week to provide one-on-one help as students work to complete their applications. KTVH
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Davey Erickson of Chester and Kimber Koteskey of Great Falls helped Carroll College’s Talking Saints reach the championship final in the season opener at The Teaching Tournament — an online event held Sept. 13-14. Independent Record
- ➤ Carroll College is set to premiere a new docuseries titled The Book of Saints that honors the 20th anniversary of its record-setting fourpeat football team, and the first episode will be shown Friday at 6 p.m. at Nelson Stadium—where former players, coaches and alumni will relive the historic moments.
