COMMUNITY NEWS

  • About 15 community volunteers cleaned Cruse and Park avenues on Thursday during the Helena Business Improvement District’s second annual downtown clean-up — spending three hours weeding, blowing leaves, and picking up trash. The event inspired local businesses to tidy the areas outside their stores — showing a shared effort to enhance downtown appeal.  KTVH

CULTURE NEWS

  • At Grandstreet, the play Noises Off follows a director and his cast as they try to put on a farce called 'Nothing On.' Their funny mistakes—causing onstage chaos—promise big laughs for the audience.  Independent Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at PAL are using VR headsets to explore jobs like an operating room—one experience offered in a three‑week course funded by the Helena Chamber of Commerce that helps them plan for their futures. After the course, the headsets will be shared with other local high schools.  KTVH
  • Central Elementary School is working on earning a Purple Star designation to support military families by hosting an event that connected 16 families to resources — teacher Libby Kenney said the effort will help children like Brooklyn Walsh feel supported when their parents are deployed.  KXLH

  • Today, the Lewis and Clark County Board of Commissioners approved fee hikes for Community Development and Planning and Public Works services—these updated fees will affect future service rates.  Independent Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • Cancer Support Community Montana partnered with local businesses in October to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer support - it held a donation-based outdoor yoga class on October 1 and will host pint nights, themed dining, and live music events later this month to help patients and families.  KTVH
  • Lewis and Clark Public Health is hosting the first community baby shower to support expecting mothers from Lewis and Clark, Broadwater, Jefferson, Meagher, and Powell counties on November 2 — donations for gifts close on October 24.  KXLH
