COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Salvation Army of Helena is aiming to raise $70,000 for food pantry, rent assistance, and transitional living and has reached one third of its goal. Red kettles are set up at 12 local spots and accept donations until Christmas Eve — volunteers may sign up to help.  KTVH

  • Joy Kelso – a local ceramic artist, U.S. Army veteran and Carroll College alumna – has taken over Queen City Framing & Art Supplies in the Lundy Center, marking a new chapter for the business.  Independent Record

CULTURE NEWS

  • After 10 months of sales, grant writing and fundraising, the Clay Arts Guild made a down payment to purchase its building in Helena to secure its future.  Independent Record
  • Today, the Clay Arts Guild of Helena opened its 20th holiday pop-up shop in the former Joslin’s Furniture location at the corner of Euclid Ave. — N. Benton Ave, where about 50 local artists sell items like mugs, plates, ornaments and vases with 75% of profits going to them; the shop is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. except on Mondays until Dec. 24.  KTVH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montana Fish and Wildlife Commissioners proposed changes to the 2026/2027 hunting regulations after proposals from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks were released last month—public comments on the proposals will be accepted until December 1. The final rules will be set on December 4 at the Capitol with Zoom registration due by noon on December 3.  MontanaRightNow

HEALTH NEWS

  • Laurel will host a new behavioral health facility funded by House Bill 5 that will channel $26.5 million to expand mental health services in the region. DPHHS Director Charlie Brereton said Laurel’s strong health care resources — a key factor for future success — helped secure the plan.  MontanaRightNow

  • Carroll College will face Montana Tech for playoff redemption in today's second round of the NAIA playoffs+ Coach Troy Purcell says the game will be decided by key plays and the team playing its best.  KXLH
