Montana Millionaire sales are on hold, and the vendor will cover the cost of Sunday's extra instant wins

If you stood in line for Montana Millionaire tickets Sunday, you know the morning went sideways. Sales opened at 5:30 a.m., then terminals stopped printing tickets, and sales were postponed around 11 a.m. after many customers waited for hours.
Bally's Intralot, the vendor, had recently moved the game to a new system. When it came back online, it triggered instant wins at a much higher rate than it should have: 991 $100 wins and 1,019 $500 wins.

The lottery will honor every Sunday instant win, and Intralot will cover the cost to the state. When the game resumes, the lottery will add back the number of instant wins triggered Sunday, and officials say they are adding more instant wins to the pool so the odds are accurate.
“From my perspective, it was the worst scenario that we could have imagined.”
